GenreLife sim
What is it?
You team up with Pokémon to turn empty land into homes and fields, and grow it bit by bit into a lively place. The goal is enjoying daily life rather than winning fights.
Why it matters
It breaks the idea that Pokémon means battling. Relaxing life-sim games are a popular genre overseas, and pairing that with the Pokémon name produced a big hit.
The numbers abroad
Nintendo announced 2.2 million units worldwide in the first 4 days, 1.0 million of them in Japan, so more than half sold abroad. Nintendo's own report counts 3.68 million units sold outside Japan where Nintendo is the publisher, as of June 30, 2026.
